| Description |
The Running Man Nebula (NGC 1977) is on
the left side of the picture and the Orion Nebula (M42
and M43) is on the right. About 1500 light years from
Earth, it is the nearest star forming region. You can
see this area with your naked eye if you look at the 2nd
star in Orion's sword. |

The picture is a combination of 6 shots
ranging from 30 seconds to 4 1/2 minutes. Taken from our
driveway, unguided, through the TV 85 with the Tele Vue
0.80x field flattener and an IDAS light pollution
filter. Pictures aligned, combined and contrast enhanced
in ImagesPlus. |
