Horse Head and Flame Nebulas

Description The Horsehead nebula is an area of dust that is obscuring the light behind it. The bright star near the left center of the picture is the bottom star of Orion's Belt. The nebula is about 1500 light years away.
Processing The picture is a combination of 7 shots ranging from 90 seconds to 4 1/2 minutes. Taken from our driveway, unguided, through the TV 85 with the Tele Vue 0.80x field flattener and an IDAS light pollution filter. Pictures aligned, combined and contrast enhanced in ImagesPlus.
