M5

Camera Canon 20Da
Date 6/10/07
Description One of the oldest star groupings in the Milky Way, M5 is a globular cluster in the constellation of Serpens. I've been shooting mainly nebulas but now that I have a good mount I wanted to try some clusters and get practice focusing. M5 is relatively low in our southern skies so the stars aren't as sharp as I would like because of atmospheric turbulence.
Processing AP 160 mounted on ATS portable pier. Taken from our driveway, this pictures  is a combination of 4 shots, 4.5 minutes each, at ISO 1600. The images were aligned, combined, and digitally processed in Images Plus.
